Visual Investigation: Photoshop Animation

What I did last week:
-Learned new color grading and video editing techniques
-Made three stop motion and digital animations studies.
-Learned to edit video and create simple FX in Photoshop.
For the past few weeks I've been breaking down my instalation bit by bit to try and figure out the best making techniques for each visual part of my project: the projection surfaces, the kinetic elements, and the projections themselves. This week, I focused on projections and animations.
As a starting point, I started analog and used some materials I had laying around my studio to make this very DIY stop-motion animation rig:
The end result with looked like this:
Not very planet like, I thought. But the video made for a great jumping off point into learning how to animate in photoshop. I used this sliding video as a base to make two more studies that were more reminiscent of an orbiting moon.
